January 12, 2013
The Barony of Bryn Madoc invites all to celebrate the end of the winter holiday season with us.
DETAILS
ACTIVITIES: Join the Barony of Bryn Madoc as we celebrate our winter festivities. This all-day event will include classes, fighting, music, and dance, as well as the Baronial Championships in arts and sciences, heavy weapons, & rapier! We look forward to feasting with you at our covered trencher feast (potluck, bring a dish to share) and dancing with you at our revel.
WHEN: Saturday, January 12th. Site opens at 9 a.m., and the doors close at 10 p.m.
SITE: St. Gregory the Great Episcopal Church, 3195 Barnett Shoals Rd., Athens, GA 30605.
Take your best route to Athens, taking Loop 10 South to College Station Rd. Exit from the loop onto College Station Rd., heading SE. When College Station Rd. dead-ends, turn right and go 0.55 mile to the next stop light. At the next light, turn left onto Barnett Shoals Rd. Go 1 mile, keeping right. St. Gregory is on the left after Athens Montessori School. A map to the site may be found here.*
FEES: This is a donations only event; suggested donation is $5. There is neither site fee nor non-member surcharge. No pre-reservations; cash only on the day of the event.
FOOD: A fundraiser lunch will be offered. The feast is a potluck/covered trencher, so please bring a dish to share for your family or party, plus 4 others, and a list of ingredients for each dish. The Barony will provide the main meat selection(s) and beverages (tea, water, lemonade, coffee). The following list is a suggested guide for what type of course to bring, based on your mundane (modern) last name:
- A-C: Bread dishes
- D-K: Veggie dishes
- L-R: Meat and/or cheese dishes
- S-Z: Desserts/sweets
You are also welcome to bring specialty items that you may just want to share, should they fall outside your designated food group. For example, if you have been wanting to share a plum pudding, but you don't fall under “desserts/sweets,” bring a sample anyway! Or, if you just killed a deer, and want to share the love, don't hold back!
